Job Description:

~~United Way of King County is seeking a Development Officer, responsible for the creative development, design, implementation and evaluation of strategies for building relationships with donors who give up to $4,999 (“Supporters and Investors”) through employee giving campaigns.  Responsible for strategic acquisition of donors from key accounts and volunteer groups. This position is also responsible for co-creating employee giving campaign strategies with 30-35 companies.

The Development Officer works to develop relationships that engage and enhance donor and volunteer connections. Holds responsibility to develop and share best practices for recognizing and retaining donors within UWKC resources. Identifies loyal donors who might be major donor prospects. Involves regular one-on-one interaction with “high-level” volunteers, donors, Ambassadors, Cabinet members, and others in order to support and strengthen personalized relationships between Supporters/Investors and UWKC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Manages a portfolio of 30-35 companies and the donors who work there, focusing on growing donors into Supporters/Investors and up to Partner-level (from $1,000 - $4,999).
  • Responsible for recruiting up to 2,000 new donors a year in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Co-creates strategies that match the companies and use a range of UWKC offerings.
  • Collaborates closely with major gifts staff for executives who give $10,000+.
  • Proactively uses emerging leader and loyal donor strategies to build both groups in assigned areas.
  • Cultivates, solicits, and stewards gifts from employees.
  • Provides accurate data and timely reports, weekly projections, sharing of best practices, and team support as needed.
  • Maintains thorough documentation of account activities and history in United Way’s constituent relationship management (CRM) database.
  • Represents United Way of King County in the community and in companies via frequent public speaking, presentations, and networking activities
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent task, time, and project management skills, ability to set goals and objectives and use appropriate analytic techniques and tools to update projections regularly
  • Demonstrated ability to gain trust and establish a collaborative, positive working relationship with all contacts
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and  independent judgment and/or action in evaluating situations and making decisions
  • Prior successful volunteer management experience
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office; Enterprise and Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience a plus
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with experience in Fundraising, Sales, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Must have at least 3 years’ experience in fundraising or sales/marketing. Experience with face-to-face donor solicitation and fundraising techniques with an applied emphasis on customer relationship building is highly desired.

United Way of King County offers a competitive total compensation package. The annual recruitment range is $ 61,000 to $ 63,000, depending on successful experience and prior accomplishments.
