YouthCare builds confidence and self-sufficiency for homeless youth ages 12-24 by providing a continuum of care that includes homelessness prevention, street outreach, basic services, emergency shelter, housing, counseling, education, and employment training. Founded in 1974 as a three-bed emergency shelter program, our continuum now operates across nine locations and a variety of community-based partnerships. Several of our programs are national models, and we are a leader locally and across the country in serving runaway and homeless youth, as well as young people who have experienced sexual exploitation.
YouthCare is currently seeking a Program Supervisor for our Education program. Under the supervision of the Director of Employment and Education, the Education Program Supervisor is the lead YouthCare staff for Education Services at the YouthCare’s Orion Center. They also provide support for education services for YouthCare’s YouthBuild program. They will work with other employment and education team members and Seattle Public Schools teaching staff to deliver quality education programs and other education support to participants. The Education Supervisor is responsible for the execution of the classroom at the Orion Center including providing structure, leadership, management, resources and support to this program and ensuring educational gains for enrolled students, with a focus on GED completion, High School Diploma completion, and referrals into post-secondary opportunities.  The Education Supervisor will work collaboratively with Seattle Public Schools GED teacher to provide curriculum and resources to engage clients to facilitate completion of their secondary education.
Successful candidates will have:
  • Experience teaching lessons in core academic subjects – reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
  • 2 or more years of experience as a leader in an education or young people development program.
  • 2 or more years of experience teaching successfully in a secondary school and/or adult basic education setting, tutoring, or leading young people development/training programs.
  • 2 or more years in curriculum development and design.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience and credentials must comply with program contract requirements including but not limited to DSHS background check and must be at least 21 years of age.
