College Access Now (CAN) empowers students from low-income families to access, enroll in, and graduate from college at rates equal to their more advantaged peers. CAN’s vision is that all students have the opportunity to graduate from college – regardless of income or background. CAN is at an exciting phase in the organization’s history. CAN has recently selected a new Executive Director to lead the organization. In 2017-18 CAN will complete the final year of an ambitious 4-year Strategic Plan and launch a new Strategic Plan for the next several years.
CAN seeks a dynamic, organized, and proven full-time Annual Campaign Manager to join our development team of four (Director of Development and Communications, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Development Coordinator and this position) to oversee all aspects of annual giving and communications. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who has the desire and experience to join an innovative non-profit that positively impacts the lives of students, their families, and the larger community through higher education. The Annual Campaign Manager will help CAN build upon its financial base and increase community awareness to position the organization for future growth. CAN raises 80% of our income from individuals, grants, and partner revenue with a current budget of approximately $2.1M. This position reports to the Director of Development and Communications. 
Fundraising (60%)
  • Manage the annual fund development strategy, attending to the budget, complementing communications, fundraising activities, appeals, events, and public awareness campaigns · Identify and build relationships with prospective donors including individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • Develop avenues for donor engagement
  • Help identify, develop, and maintain prospect and donor lists and produce reports and campaign updates
  • Manage a portfolio of donors that give $500-$999 and help identify major gift prospects
Communications (25%)
  • Assist in implementing overall strategy for CAN’s public awareness and presence, especially within the donor and prospect community
  • Develop content and leverage multiple communication mediums to complement relationship and development efforts
  • Work closely with graphic designer and communication team to produce compelling and effective communication and donor-centric collateral
Administration and Donor Gift Management (15%)
  • Work with Development Coordinator and finance personnel to ensure highest integrity and care for donor database and provide timely gift acknowledgments
  • Produce metrics on campaign performance and analyze results to ensure that activities meet their intended goals
  • Steward and collect outstanding pledges, recurring, and matching gifts
  • Ideal candidate has a minimum 5 years experience in nonprofit relationship-based fundraising including event management
  • Clear track record of success in cultivating, soliciting, and securing donor support such as annual fund and events
  • Proven background in project management and experience managing and executing integrated communication and development plans
  • Demonstrated skill in relationship building and volunteer engagement
  • Excellent communicator -- solid writer and able to share organization vision effectively
  • Hard-working and enthusiastic team player with strong management skills to inspire and motivate others to action
  • Highly professional demeanor; able to represent CAN effectively in all communication and handle confidential donor and partner information
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with donor database software (Bloomerang preferred)

  • Experience with, and understanding of, the diverse communities we serve, higher education, and youth advocacy
  • Demonstrated analytical and evaluation skills to effectively interpret and use information to support decision-making
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends
