Position Summary:
The Assistant Dean for Development and External Relations has primary responsibility for major gifts for the law school. The Assistant Dean is also responsible for managing and building the law school’s development efforts in the areas of annual giving, foundation grants, donor relations, and planned giving. The Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of the Law School and coordinates with law school staff, law school faculty, the College Board of Trustees, Board of Visitors, and Institutional Advancement (IA) staff in planning and executing a professional program for law school advancement and external relations. The Assistant Dean consults with other members of the law school staff to maximize the effectiveness of written, electronic and social media communications from the law school to key audiences.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 6-10+ years senior development experience. Other comparable or valuable experience may qualify towards these years.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead development infrastructure efforts and external campaigns.
  • Track record as successful solicitor of major gifts.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff.
  • Professional School experience preferred.
  • Successful senior level experience and demonstrated success in development, public relations, and marketing.
  • Familiarity with Raisers Edge software.
  • Ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals, particularly those who are underrepresented in the country and/or at Lewis & Clark College.
