The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber is seeking to grow our team with a full-time Spaceworks Program Director.  This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to expand the realm of creativity on the streets and within start-ups.
Spaceworks is a joint initiative of the City of Tacoma, and the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber designed to activate empty storefronts and vacant space in Tacoma. The initiative provides no- and low-cost temporary space, training, and technical assistance to artists, fledgling creative entrepreneurs, organizations, and community groups in order to nurture successful projects that transform Tacoma into
a stronger, more active city.
Candidate Necessities
Our ideal candidate must be passionate about the role art and entrepreneurship play in making Tacoma an incredible city to live, work and create. The Spaceworks Program Director must have strong connections in the local and regional arts, culture, maker, and entrepreneur communities. Excellent communication skills are needed for this fast-paced, innovative, highly sought-after program. Spaceworks has a team of five awesome people working to cultivate creative communities within the Chamber’s 25 person organization. Candidates must show proven internal and external leadership skills demonstrated by an ability to lead both with and without a mandate.
Spaceworks supports its mission with $400,000 in funding from a diverse array of sources including grants, contracts, leases, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and service fees. The Program Director will have demonstrated experience in non-profit fundraising and fiscal management. This multifaceted, opportunity driven program requires incredible creativity and organization skills.

This is an exempt position. Dependent on experience, the compensation range is from $57,000-$69,000/annually.
This position also includes an array of benefits including 401(k), short- & long-term disability insurance, AD&D insurance, dental insurance, 10 paid holidays, 16 days of paid time off, ORCA transit pass, and eligibility for the Live Downtown Program.
Conditions of Work
Generally office or professional environments; requires some work in unfinished building spaces;
requires some travel, usually within downtown Tacoma. Some nights and weekends required for
planned meetings and events, infrequent off-duty availability required, within reason, for emergency
License/Certifications/Special Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or related experience with an emphasis on business, marketing, human resources or an allied field.
  • High-school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, web-based applications and CRMs.
  • Web design and content management experience preferred.
  • Driver’s License, auto insurance, and personal vehicle required.
