Development Assistant
The Center for Children & Youth Justice, founded in 2006 by Justice Bobbe J. Bridge, is dedicated to reforming Washington’s juvenile justice and child welfare systems. CCYJ leads communities, our state and the nation in supporting kids, stabilizing families and strengthening communities through real and lasting reform. CCYJ identifies cracks in the system, researches and develops creative solutions, and ensures that policymakers embed those reforms into practices and procedures. CCYJ’s results are put into state law, adopted as standing protocols by the courts, schools, and other partners; or developed into new treatments and interventions for at-risk, abused or neglected children and their families.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Development Assistant supports CCYJ’s fundraising efforts through donor communications, data entry & analysis, information management, and the creation of reporting materials to achieve the organization’s annual and long-range fundraising goals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with precise attention to detail, with strong time management, and writing skills, and with great enthusiasm for working as part of a Development Team in aid of a critical mission.

Reports to: Development Director
FLSA STATUS:
This full time position is considered non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide administrative support to the Development Director to implement sustainable donor cultivation and stewardship.
• Process incoming donations according to agency protocols.
• Prepare donor acknowledgement letters weekly for CEO’s signature based on agency guidelines.
• Create and maintain databases using Raiser’s Edge NXT software.
• Maintain and update information on CCYJ website.

• Query and run donor reports as requested.
• Coordinate communications, schedule reminders, record minutes for Board of Director meetings.
• Poll, schedule and support the Development Committee & Breakfast Committee volunteers & meetings.
• Support the Development Director in the planning and implementing of fundraising events.
• Produce regular pledge reports and conduct quarterly reconciliation with the Accounting Coordinator.
• Coordinate direct mail and online campaigns.
• Support prospect and donor research.
• Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of donor, volunteer, staff, and organization information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY

• Undergraduate degree in a related field is preferred.
• Two to three years of experience in nonprofit development.
• Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people e.g., Board members, public officials, attorneys) business executives, in a professional manner using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
• Knowledge of business English, composition, spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and demonstrated ability to efficiently compose and prepare correspondence and documents.
• Knowledge of social media, i.e., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook.
• Ability to work independently completing assigned duties in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workflow in a changing work environment.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment, and the ability to sit and to use a computer for significant periods of time.
• This person must have a good command of the English language to accurately convey information.
• Generally good working conditions with little or no exposure to extremes in noises, temperature.
• Little or no safety or health hazards.
• Minimal lifting or climbing.
• Work performed in an office setting.
