Job Description:

Position Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for management and oversight of all finance and accounting activities. The Finance Manager engages in financial tracking and analysis in such areas as forecasting, budgeting, and reviewing and reporting on overall performance. The Finance Manager serves as a strategic partner to the President & CEO.

Position Type

This is an exempt, part time position, approximately 20 hours/week with occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.


Reports to President & CEO



Finance Management:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, grants payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
  • Oversee financial analysis and reporting, communicating both plans and results to President & CEO, Finance Committee and Board of Directors regularly
  • Regularly review monthly financial statements
  • Manage monthly income reconciliation between financial statements and Raiser’s Edge database
  • Approve vendor payments and manage general ledger coding
  • Along with bookkeeper and Operations Coordinator, review and approve payroll
  • Oversee annual audit and internal controls review
  • Oversee preparation and submission of 990 form and all other key documents that must be filed with federal, state, county and city government

Finance Planning:

  • Lead annual budgeting process, including historical analysis, modeling, forecasting and final budget approval by Finance Committee and Board of Directors
  • Regularly update cash flow and manage related ongoing analysis, modeling and forecasting

Finance Oversight

  • Manage contract bookkeeper and relationships for banking and investments
  • Manage systems for bookkeeping, banking, and investments
  • Formulate fiscal policies, systems, and procedures, and oversee adherence to internal control policies
  • Develop and monitor proper internal controls and records. Make recommendations to President & CEO and/or finance and audit committee for changes to financial policies and procedures
  • Manage and staff the Finance Committee and other finance/investment related ad hoc working groups, along with the President & CEO. Recruit and orient new Finance Committee members


  • Minimum five years of financial experience and BA degree or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Understanding of nonprofit finances and reporting and some work experience in a philanthropic, non-profit, education or mission-driven organization a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong project management skills, including excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with clear deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and to effectively lead across functional teams
  • Proficient using MS Office Suite
  • Experience with database software, preferably QuickBooks and Raiser’s Edge
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends during Women’s Funding Alliance events
  • Demonstrated passion for Women’s Funding Alliance’s mission
