Job Description:

United Way of King County is a recognized leader in solving the community’s toughest challenges and we’re looking for an accounting professional to join our Operations & Administration team as a Senior Accountant of Revenue & AR. This position manages the accounting for charitable gifts, pledges and cash receipts postings in the Accounts Receivable system (Enterprise). This position works closely with other Financial Operations team members to ensure accurate and timely contribution postings and accurate and complete financial reporting.  This position supervises two Gift Accounting Specialists and seasonal processing staff as needed.

Essential duties:

  • Manages transaction postings, donor and company account updates and related processes within Enterprise & associated systems.
  • Reviews, analyzes and processes pledge, gift, designated agency and payment transactions and adjustments, ensuring accuracy of entry and consistency of processes.
  • Supports and works with team members to troubleshoot and translate data feeds/reports from Enterprise system that supports journal entries to the General Ledger.
  • Provides key technical support for future planning for back-office system transformation through account mapping and process design.
  • Responsible for transaction back-up archiving and retention requirement compliance for these records.
  • Works within and across teams to identify potential process improvements, works with others to implement agreed on changes and updates policies and procedures.
  • Supports the financial audit by providing documentation and explanations of transactions and processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
A successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, specializing in accounting or related field or substitute equivalent experience. Must have five years’ experience in revenue/AR accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment with responsibility for constituent data and financial information. Experience with general ledger computerized accounting systems experience, or donor database software such as Enterprise, preferred.  Solid working knowledge of relational databases, Access and Microsoft Dynamics SL experience desired. At least 1 year of previous supervisory experience preferable.
